Our experience of reality is constrained by our biology. As humans, we can perceive less than a ten-trillionth of all light waves.
Sensory Enhancement is the use of technology to enable the brain to perceive sensory information about the world that is usually inaccessible to us.
This can be by enhancing your existing senses, receiving new information through your existing senses, or adding new senses. By adding new sensory information our perception of the world is expanded, allowing us to have and create richer experiences than humans could otherwise have. The possibilities are endless!
WE HAD INFRARED VISION
We would be able to see wavelengths of light that are outside the human eye’s visual spectrum - like snakes who can sense infrared waves (heat) and map it onto the visual representation of their surroundings, allowing them to detect prey even at night.
PEOPLE COULD HEAR COLOUR
Like colourblind artist Neil Harbisson who 'hears' colour by transforming the light waves into sounds
RECEIVING DATA THROUGH OUR SKIN
Inputting new data streams - such as orientation or sounds through the skin via patterned vibrations. Just like some people can read braille through their fingertips, we could receive and understand information, such as directions, through patterned vibrations on our skin.
Developments in Sensory Enhancement has enormous potential to benefit humanities well-being and creativity.
We’re proud and excited to be at the forefront of these amazing developments.
Some groups believe that the human body is in need of 'fixing'. We at CyborgNest think that human bodies are each unique and beautiful in our own way, there is no 'perfect' human, to think that negates the diverse types of embodiment that we humans have. We believe that technology should be for ALL, enhancing the abilities and experiences of everyone no matter what body they are in.
Innovation is not about the success of an individual but the success of a wider community. To drive technology into the future we believe in democratising the sensory design process by creating an open API which allows members of our community to create content for our devices. By bringing their unique perspectives, ideas, and skills to the table the possibilities for innovation are endless.
At CyborgNest we believe in creating ethical sensory technology. Throughout production we continually ensure that the design and testing process is done ethically, to ensure the best experience for all our community and to protect the environment. Diversity, equality, sustainability, safety and privacy are just some of the core concepts that we as a company believe in.
